Hot Air : All Talk All The Time is a book written by Howard Kurtz in 1996. Howard Kurtz has also published the book Media Circus. This particular book is a series of stories and quotes from many of today’s leaders and celebrities. The author is trying to show the reader the influence of radio and television on how the public reacts from everything from politics to the local news The book, although at times interesting, was very difficult to review. There are literally hundreds of names, some common, but most are not. There are also hundreds of short stories and quotations. The author jumps from one quotation to another in a single sentence. Because of the numerous stories and no real objective from the author besides quoting humorus lines from famous or important people, I will discuss a few of his chapters that I could find a theme. I will also discuss my impression of the book, and who I think should read it. A humorous chapter in the book was titled “Daytime Dysfunction”. It tells us a brief history of Phil Donahue, one of the most famous talk show hosts in the world. We also hear of the other forerunners in daytime talk shows, Oprah Winfrey and Geraldo Rivera. After giving multiple examples of the sleazy and outrageous guests these talk show hosts had on as guests, Fathers Who Kill and Kids That Abuse Their Moms, to name a few, we learn the public wanted more.
