The Barbaric invasions that Western Europe received from the Huns, Vikings, Magyars, etc led to the destroying of the Roman Empire in the west. The population falling sharply, the disruption of trade, and the cities dwindling in size still wasn’t enough for Western Europe to fall completely. Western Europe managed to hold on and a major factor to it was the Church. ...
