Reflection on Setting in Ernest Hemingways Soldiers Home and Tim OBrians How To Tell a True
Time, location, and the physical features of a setting can all be relevant to the overall purpose of a story. The settings on Ernest Hemingway’s “Soldiers Home,” and Tim O’Brian’s “How to Tell a True War Story” both shape the meaning of the stories but the settings are radically different in significance. Ernest Hemingway’s story has a much more benign setting than Tim O’Brian’s story. “How to Tell a True War Story” by Tim O’Brian is told during the Vietnam War through the eyes of a soldier.
