Symptoms of a Manic Episode:
Ø Mood elevation to the point of euphoria
Ø Escalation of self esteem as a person bubbles over with optimism, energy and
elaborate plans
Ø Hyperactivity and can go days without sleep
Ø Speaks rapidly and wildly shifts topic because they thoughts are racing quickly
Ø Judgement is impaired
Ø In manic period they gamble impulsively, spends money frantically and can
become very sexually reckless.
