Where Muhammad grew up, Mecca, “ religion was marked by idol worship and paganism centering on a sacred site called the Ka’bah. Muhammad had visions and revelations and was told by the Angel Gabriel the he was “the Messenger of God.” (Muhammad (Koran) 719). ... ” (Muhammad (Koran) 719).
