Angela Arriaga Aug. 30, 2004 English EL NORTE I am from Santa Maria California. My parents came from Mexico, Quiroga Michoacan. My dad Jesus Arriaga was the first one in my family to come to California. Jesus came here because a lot of people told him that California was the place to live and that there was beautiful houses and cars. The only thing that his friends didn’t tell him was that he had to work in the fields picking strawberries so he can earn money and a place to live. he came to California in the year 1985. He came to California so he can earn money so my mother Maria and my sister would have the opportunity to come to California. work in the fields because there was no other work people would offer him with no papers. Even though it was hard running from the Migra my dad earned money to go back to Mexico and bring my sister Maria and my mother Maria come to California. I was the first one in my family to be born in California and that’s how my struggle in California began. The way my father came to California was by running from the Migra every time he wanted to cross the boarder with no papers. It was really hard for my father to come to California because every time he was almost in the boarder about to come to California the Migra would catch him and tell him what was he trying to do that if he didn’t have papers he had to go back to Mexico because that’s where he belonged.
