As summer’s end approached, Anna and Dmitri began getting ready to leave and get back to their lived with their spouses. Not as much for Dmitri and for Anna. She had to return to her husband, who was waiting her return at home. On the train back, they enjoyed their last few hours together and cherished every moment of it. They promised each other than they would be together soon, and that everything would be perfect for them. Dmitri assured Anna that he wouldn’t leave her and would always be by her side, as she broke down in tears. He vowed that he wouldn’t let anything break them apart; he said he wouldn’t allow it. When Anna Sergeyevna got home, her husband was there to meet her. He missed her, his wife, who was in love with another man. Anna found it hard to look into her husband’s eyes. She knew that what she was doing was wrong and if her husband ever found out, he would be crashed into pieces. She didn’t know what was best to do: stay with her husband and continue her visits to Moscow, or end the mess by being with Dmitri and letting go of the man she married. She didn’t know what was best to do but she knew one thing: he husband should never find out about her affair with Dmitri. For the time being she decided to wait; wait and see how everything turns out. Complications begun when Dmitri had to leave Moscow, to visit his sick mother in Rostov, a city south west of Moscow. He was to be gone nearly a month and Anna was at loss. She didn’t know what to do. Her visits to Moscow have become longer than usual, and now she had to go for a month without being able to be with Dmitri. She had no choice, and so he left. Now her everyday seemed worthless.
