After reading the book “God’s Word Expressed in Human Words” by Michael D
McGehee, I will have to say I learned a lot about the bible, how to read it and a better
understanding of the scriptures. ... This book was about the bible’s literary forms. ...
Jesus, who is the Son of God, was very unique in his personality, he was a man of
many grateful things. ... They tell a story of the lives of God’s people from Gods perspective. ... Their purpose is to show God at work in his creation among his people. ... They are the inspired words of God handed down to us through the hands of his chosen writers. I learned that when reading a narrative you should not focus on a few words or a few verses, you should have focus on the point of the narrative as a whole. ... In determining what the passage actually says we must examine its setting, purpose, context, form and words. ... The first refers to the words that appear in a dialogue spoken by characters in some narrative. ... During the process of translation, the translators must translate whole ideas; they cannot do a word for word translation. ... The words, phrases, and ideas in hymns are usually the composition of an individual, and they typically express a more personal interpretation of life and faith. ... The Bible cannot be dissected word for word.
