As he tries to stand on the stool his acrophobia returns and the director uses quick cuts to show his emotion Gavin’s office Hitchcock cameo as the old man walking across the scene with a trumpet case Long fade into the office In the background cranes are working in the window Pacing, showing Scottie in the foreground and Gavin in the background Shot pans to an under shot of Gavin’s face Scottie meets Madeleine Background lights fade as she approaches She walks past, you can see a half profile of her face Light comes back up and glances off her hair Scottie accepts the assignment without again talking to Gavin, begins to follow her the next day Midge and Scot in the car Background shows a the bridge linking them together, excellent framing As he is looking at the book, a superimposition of Madeleine appears over it Ocean Cliff Front lighting is used to highlight their features As the scene progresses the wind picks up in the background As they kiss explosions are going off with the waves hitting the rocks Midges apartment She talks about her return to her first love, painting or Scottie The picture forces him to see Midge as Carolta Midge in frustration at not being Madeleine throws the paintbrush at her reflection in the mirror Church Scene The Vertigo shows up again as he climbs the stairs, the camera zooms in and out to show his dizziness.
