HUGE DISPARITIES IN SPORT DEVELOPMENT BETWEEN DEVELOPED AND DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

Modern sport development has reproduced race, class and gender inequalities. This is more pronounced in underdeveloped or developing countries. The situation has been aggravated by the commercialisation of sport. Many would athlete have been barred from sport participation by factors such as lack of adequate facilities, equipment, finacial barriers and other associated problems. To this end, those who have the means in terms of finance have more access to certain sport. The rest of the sociaty has been relegated to spectatorship, and worse still, are subjected to huge fees as entrance qualifications to stadia and other related areas.
