Slogans; they are every where. They can’t be escaped. They are on the television, the radio, billboards and so many other places. But what is their purpose? Whether we recognize it or not, slogans permeate our culture and our minds. How many people find themselves humming those snaring little tunes from commercials? How many find that they subconsciously reach for a brand name rather than the generic just because of a advertisement packed way back some where in their minds? I’m not saying that everyone does this, but lets face it. Many people are just influenced into a deluded sense of needing a particular brand name. Will brand names make their lives better? If they wear certain clothes will they get into all the clubs and have gorgeous persons of the opposite gender hanging off of them? If they open a certain can of pop will an instant party break out on the streets? No. And yet brand names prevail. Why? Because of slogans. There is one slogan in particular I want to talk about. It’s Sears; “The good life”.
