Even though the Chesapeake region and New England were both originally settled by the English, the economic, social, and political aspects of their colonies developed differently as each region grew. ... The population of each was different because of the healthy climate of New England and the relatively unhealthy climate of the Chesapeake region. Politically, New England and the Chesapeake region were the same in that they both leaned towards democracy, however they were different in how they carried out the idea of democracy.
