Teratogens are damaging substances that can get into the mother and harm the baby. One kind of maternal disease that mothers can get is Rubella or German measles. Although I do not know if you, Skylar, have any chronic illnesses for instance, heart disease, lupus, or epilepsy, but keep in mind that these can have a negative affect on the development of the fetus. It could also affect the baby’s development especially if you have diabetes, because it affects diabetic pregnant women’s blood sugar significantly and it is almost impossible to control it.
