Love and the Marriage?
Marriage means a variety of different things to different people. ... Some people will make this journey alone, others in relationships, maybe in marriage or other forms of dedication. ... Marriage, according to Webster’s Dictionary is the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law (2) : the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage. So the question is which one of these definitions is the right and moral definition of marriage? Most commonly, dictionaries define marriage in terms of spouses, spouses in terms of husband and wife, and husband and wife in terms of marriage. In consequence, the various definitions does no work in explaining what marriage is and so simply end up assuming or stipulating that marriage must be between people of different sexes (Bolte 1). Should marriage be limited to just opposite sex couples or made a freedom made available to all sexualities? ... Marriage to me personally is a man and a woman who love each other and want to take the next step in life and make a lifelong commitment to one another, the whole to love and honor thing. But anymore it seems that what was once the unspoken act of gay marriage is everywhere, not just on television but in our own living rooms and classrooms. But is gay marriage such a big deal? ... Legalizing gay marriage seems to me that it would not cause any drastic changes in America. ... One of the most important issues surrounding the same-sex marriage debate is whether or not same-sex marriages can even exist. All too often, same-sex marriages are discounted as impossible because marriage is viewed as existing only between a man and a woman. Gays and lesbians cannot meet the definition of marriage and, thus, "same-sex marriage" is an oxymoron (Bolte 1). ... So gay marriage according to the bible is not right, but God also gave us free-will, so does that give us the right as humans to take away their freedom just because they are gay. Because gay marriage has it positive and negative approaches and everyone should be enabled to their freedom, same-sex marriage should be allowed in government places.
