A Sweet Melody

Imagine your about to watch your favorite movie in a theater. When it starts playing you notice something different that starts to bug you. The movie doesn't have a musical accompaniment, and all you can hear is the spoken dialogue and some sound effects. Then you go home to listen to your favorite song, except for some reason the lyrics are just spoken instead of sung. And you start to wonder if your having a bad dream, or what is going on. While this scenario is quite unrealistic and a bit cheesy, think about it. How would you react? Would you be upset and want your money back for the movie, or would you not really care? After all, as long as you can still hear people talking, you can still follow the movie and see everything you want to see. How different would a music album be if musical artists just chanted words without any music, or even rhythm? Would it still be worth the $15 you paid for it? Music has a powerful influence on people. It impacts the way we live and goes along with the things we do. It affects how we feel about things. When I watch a movie for example, I feel different depending on the mood of the music. I have noticed that movies that lack music don't seem to have as much power in them, or otherwise don't seem to have as much significance, even if the movie is trying to bring out a solid theme. And that is because the music is important to bringing out how we feel about what is going on. What is it about music that makes it such a popular hobby in most of our lives and what does music really do for us? It isn't something that we visually see, and it is certainly more than just Huntsman 2 hearing words. As in the fake scenario above, it can certainly affect the way we feel about someone or something. But what else makes music seem so appealing? Ask yourself this question the next time you listen to a song you really like. It could be for a number of different reasons. Have you ever heard a song that reminded you of a particular experience you had? Sometimes music can bring back memories from the past that may have happened quite awhile go.
