Barbies Are For Girls
In the short story Barbie as a Boy Toy, Meg explains how her boys like to play with Barbie. ... It is not that they are not supposed to play with Barbie, but everyone thinks of Barbie as a feminine toy and for girls to play with. ... Even on the commercials, they have boys playing with cars and ninja turtles, while the girls are playing with Barbie and Skipper. ... I do not understand the way things are though because it is like it is okay for girls to play with cars and big trucks and people will not make a fuss about it, but a little boy can’t even play with a Barbie before he gets called gay, or somebody saying he is going to grow up being either feminine or gay. ... We would play with his toys and then when we got tired of playing with his cars and ninja turtles, we would play with my barbies and comb there hair and dress them up. ... Playing with my barbies did not teach my cousin to grow up and be gay or even feminine. ... He always says that when he has a little boy, he will let him play with barbies as well. ... To me, Barbie is a bad impression on what young girls are supposed to look like. Most young girls do not have full breasts and curves like Barbie.
