5. Variations in communicator credibility have two initial outcomes when studying persuasion. The first is the communicator’s expertise, which is how accustomed they are to the field they are working. If the communicator is not high in expertise the receiver of the persuasion will feel they are not a credible source. They will not place much confidence in the persuader’s knowledge resulting in a negative outcome. Second, is the persuader’s trustworthiness, which is to what degree the receiver of the message trusts the persuader. If the persuader is not trusted then the receiver is less likely to be persuaded resulting in a negative outcome.
