Throughout culture, there is the prevalence of realistic television shows; most are fictional. There is often an issue of delusional projection among television audiences which either signals a vicarious living by watching the show or a genuine belief in the truth of the show. It is important to remember that shows are fictional, often containing only shreds of resemblance to actual reality. The show being examined is the FOX network’s show 24. The show is based on a Counter Terrorist Unit based loosely on organizations within the U.S. Government. There are viewers out there that believe the show to be true. The point of this paper will prove that the plot lines within 24 are not only untrue, but illogical as well. The television show 24 takes place in one day with each of its twenty four episodes covering one hour. The main character in this show is special agent Jack Bauer who is played by Kiefer Sutherland. He is the head of the government’s Counter Terrorist Unit and goes through many bizarre events in just one single day.
