... Throughout the semester we read stories
form survivors, watched real videos from survivors on both sides of the war, (SS
and victimized Jews), and we read a book called “Night” by Elie Wiesel.
Night was the story of Elie Wiesel’s life throughout the holocaust. ... Elie’s experience was particularly harsh because he was place in the
notorious labor camp, called Auschwitz, (which housed the largest death camp,
Birkinua). ...
Elie’s story changed the way I look at the world. ... Since the end of the war, Elie has devoted much of his time to publicly
speaking about indifference and other topics pertaining to his experience during
World War II.
On April 12, 1999, Elie Wiesel delivered a speech in Washington DC before the
president of the United States, the first lady, members of congress, Ambassedor
Holbrooke, and many others.
