“I Love my Fraternity” “It was the best of times it was the worst of times.” This is my mind set after completing my pledge semester for my fraternity while I was attending school at Texas Tech University. The emotional roller coaster experienced in pledging a frat is incomprehensible by anyone who has not had the chance to experience it. It was the spring semester of my freshman year at Texas Tech University, home of the Red Raiders. The semester started out similar to that of my first except that now I had friends I could come back to, and I now had a much better understanding of the inner workings of the campus. During the first week back on campus just before classes start up again, the Greek houses (Fraternities and Sororities) allow those incoming freshman and other students who believe themselves worthy to be apart of their organization to rush for a bid. When a person rushes through the formal channels they tour all of the fraternities if they are male or all the sororities if they are female; but I went through and informal rush where I attend the first chapter meeting of the house presented my wish to become apart of their organization. But let me back track for a moment; my cousin who had pledged the fraternity in the first semester was a major factor in my decision to become apart of the fraternity, because he is family I spent a large part of my first semester hanging out and partying with him and his friends which all happened to be his pledge brothers.
