... Judith Lynne Hanna, author of “The Language of Dance,” researched a mistaken belief about dance in the form of a non-verbal communication. Dance is an unspoken way of expressing yourself when no one else could ever understand. Being able to dance is not something innate, it is the love that forms deep inside of you that you have to dig up and surface. In civilization today, people stereotypically accuse dance of being a hobby and a form of entertainment, but it is much more then that. It is a non verbal way of communicating that has symbolic potential towards poetry, a way of expressing oneself, an impact on literature and issues in language like health and science; and furthermore, dance tells a story.
Dance has no predictability and the irony of that is that civilization today perceives it as though it does. Judith Lynne Hanna proves through out her research paper that dance is used regularly in many aspects of peoples lives. ... A comparable example of this would be sign language and how this non-verbal form of communication could sometimes be more persuasive then verbal communication, because it sends out an extreme understanding. ... “With the entire body as the instrument of dance, imagine its potential to communicate beyond mere hand gestures. ... Judith Lynne Hanna overcame that task and provided the civilization reason to believe that dance was and still is more then just a form of entertainment. ... You don’t “language,” you speak one and you don’t “dance” you do ballet or jazz. Dance inspires literature and literature inspires dance right back. ... ” Thus showing that waltz can be a form of dance as well as a verb. Jennifer Dunning, a writer stated once, “Dance, like poetry, is an art of metaphor and abstraction, though it whisks by and cannot easily be re-read. ... Hanna asked herself if there is any symbolism behind dance or if it can easily be achieved by just about anyone.
