It begins with a friend, or maybe a relative, or a movie. No matter where exactly the vision stems from, you visualize yourself there, in that person, looking cool, oblivious to exactly what you are doing. When that first “drag” is inhaled from the tobacco and chemical filled paper roll, you are not releasing your frustrations or looking attractive; instead, you are harming yourself and every living thing surrounding you. Gasping the toxic air will not only ultimately kill the offender, but first have major physical side effects, financial issues, and internal consequences. The majority of teens and young adults are very concerned with their physical appearance, hence the reason why some even begin smoking. Little do they know that what makes them look “cool” to some now will only make them appear fifty years old on their thirty-second birthday. If you plan on ever starting to smoke, please stock up on facial moisturizers now. The skin of a smoker wrinkles quicker and becomes more fragile than that of a non-smoker. It encourages the beginning of age spots and dry skin. If they care about how they smell, then they have yet another problem. The odor released from cigarette smoke binds to everything it passes by. It begins with your hand, since you are holding the cigarette, then it lingers to your hair, clothing, and the entire area in which you are occupying. It may take several washes for that aroma, if you will, to be released from anything that it has sunken it’s teeth into. Ashtray breath is also not a turn on for most people, especially if the other person doesn’t smoke. Since you are essentially inhaling the toxic fumes, your pearly whites turn yellow and become stained as do the walls in your house, or where ever it is that you may smoke.
