Smith believed that Buddhism died out because the Hindu religion incorporated Buddhism into it. To me, Hinduism prevailed because they depended on God, idols to do things for them; while Buddhism was more do-it-yourself. They incorporated Buddhism into Hinduism because they imitated and took over their way of life.
