Tour of Etowah

Saturday, 28 February 2004, I drove from Hampton, Georgia to an “ancient Indian City” known today as the Etowah Indian Mounds. Located in Cartersville, Georgia along the Etowah River and Pumpkinvine Creek, the Etowah Mounds are believed to have been once the largest and most important Indian settlement in the Etowah Valley. ... Excited to start my self-guided tour, I embarked on my trip down memory lane. ... This burial mound, which has been completely excavated and restored, has provided much revelation to scientists of the Etowah Indians customs and practices. ... Most knowledge about the Etowah came from the study of the excavations from Mound C.
