As a film, The Emperor and the Assassin’s overall attitude towards King Ying Zheng seemed to be a two-bladed sword. On one hand, the viewer of the movie got an impression of him as a king to be respected. On the other hand, he appeared to be a spoiled child in a king’s shoes. His determination and ruthlessness were seen as both admiral and problematic. Some of the costs of this strong leadership were the many deaths that he ordered. Including all of his faults, the King of Qin was a figure to be respected and admired. The movie showed me that King Ying Zheng was a king to be admired. His subjects obeyed his every order and whim. He was just when he chose to be. His dream was the dream of all of his ancestors, to unite all under heaven under one ruler.
