“Fact or Fiction” Reflection Paper
As stated in Yaruss and Quesal (2001), working with People Who Stutter (PWS) can be challenging for many speech-language pathologists. This may be due to the fact that stuttering is a highly variable disorder-the occurrence of speech disfluencies can vary significantly from day to day, from situation to situation, and even from moment to moment, depending upon many different factors. ... Also, clinicians should recognize the fact that a child may be able to successfully use strategies to achieve fluent speech in some situations, but accept modified stuttering in other situations (Yaruss and Quesal, 2001).
