At the end of the 19th century art of Europe experienced considerable changes. Impressionism and, later, post impressionism played an important role in changing public’s attitude toward art and artists. Two most famous names of this period are Vincent Gogh and Paul Gaugin. These two artists may seem very similar and, indeed there are a lot of common things between these two painters; even their names are something mixed. However, the difference between them far outweighs their similarities. Van Gogh and Gauguin is both were self-taught and started their carriers in art rather late.
