Keeping Students In Check Drugs and teenagers drug use is the increasing problem among teenagers in today’s high schools. Most drug use begins in the preteen and teenage years. These years are the most crucial for developing mentally and physically. We try to protect our children the best we can by applying rules, guidelines and safety procedures. Yet, We still cannot feel safe with these rules and regulations in place. With outside influences and temptations that show up in school, we cannot be assured of a safe habitat for our kids. Drugs show up in every high school at one time or another. At some schools drugs show up on a daily occurrence. How can we protect our children from something that can have horrible consequences on their lives like, getting arrested, doing bad in school, create problems within their families or death? I feel we need to do what ever it takes to protect our children in high school from drugs. Teachers are with our children on a daily basis. If A teacher sees a student acting funny, smelling like smoke, or has some suspicion about a student, they should have the right to search students for drugs on school grounds. Our children’s teachers spend a great deal of time with our children every week. The teachers learn to know who their students are. When a teacher sees a student acting differently or smelling like smoke they should be able to react.
