Has anything ever happened to you that was instantly life changing? Something that you weren’t expecting and something you didn’t want to happen. Why did this have to happen to me, you’d ask yourself? Well there really isn’t an answer, just plain your luck I guess. My best friend you could say had a lot of bad luck last year around Christmas time. The date was December 19, 2003. It was the Friday before Christmas break so it was a half-day of school. Uxbridge High School’s half days were a total joke. You would wake up, walk into school around 7:20 am and sit through four, forty-five minute classes. Since classes on regular days were normally an hour and thirty minutes teachers were very lazy and didn’t do much on half-days. We would play pictionary in biology class or jeopardy in math class. Coming to school was like a day in kindergarten all over again. At 10:20 am “briiiiiiiiiiiing,” the bell sounded. Everyone rushed out of class on this Friday mourning. “Yes, school is out for Christmas break,” my best friend Elle said to me as we walked to our lockers. “Yeah but we still have track practice,” I said. At track practice the sprinters and the distance runners would do separate workouts.
