The United States and the European Union, on the surface, may seem to share similar intents but the underlying objectives of the Unites States run contrary to that of the EU’s. Both powers believe that the ‘war on terrorism’ is top priority, however only one of these two powers delivers that message through their actions. September 11, 2001 was a day that shocked our nation and many others around the world. Many agreed that the terrorist acts of 9/11 should not be tolerated and the most serious of counterattacks, war, should only be waged as a ‘last resort’. The Bush Administration, however, thought otherwise. American soldiers rushed into Iraq guns a-blazin’, bombs a-fallin’, people a-dyin’ with the belief that they were fighting for a good cause.
