Martha Moore Ballard was fifty years old when she began her diary on January 1 of 1785 and she ended in May 12, 1812, for twenty-seven years, she recorded the daily events in her diary, beginning with the weather. ... I was impressed that Martha Ballard knew so much about medicines, and unconventional remedies. I too found it amazing how many roles Martha Ballard took on, and the amount of mental and emotional stress that Martha Ballard had to endure on a daily basis. Martha Ballard ‘s had a lot of will to power, wisdom and courage that kept her active achieving and accomplishing her daily challenges and task routine.
Martha Ballard created several charts to displayed information about several events happening during the late 1700’s and early 1800’s. ... I believed that Martha’s aim in creating charts about population was to let the new generations how many babies were born in Hallowell. On the contrary, Martha Ballard also created charts about short life expectancy. I believe that Martha wanted to have a log of how many of her patients and people that she attended were dying; as well how many were born.
