No Quick Picks Here It is a dark tale I must say of “The Lottery” by Shirely Jackson. Why would a normal appearing community have such an event with dire consequences for the winner? I am totally floored with ending and by which way Tessie Hutchinson had to meet her end. What is the reason for the story and is Shirely trying to tell us? That in the end we are all animals, that even normal people will do extraordinary things if shown how. I guess that we as human beings will follow the group and will do anything to anyone as long as it suits our needs. For example Mrs. Hutchinson was quite excited about attending the affair but once she found out it was her family and later her, she was quick to shout that it was not fair how the drawing took place.
