Although the roles have of the male and female’s expectations have been altered, there are still traditional standards that are upheld. Holidays play a key part in dividing the roles of men and women, and what is expected of them.
Society today sets the roles of men and women into certain stereotypes. ... Culture pushes men and women into set roles, but “the scientific literature, in contrast, suggests that gender differences may not be as large as popular culture suggests. ... ” (519) The way men and women act in certain situations are similar, yet they have clear emotional differences that come through, “However, when differences do occur, they often map onto gender stereotypes with women behaving in traditionally feminine ways and with men behaving in traditionally masculine ways.
