world of ignorance

In this assignment I will present a thematic analysis of ignorance. I will be focusing on sub-themes that are the result of ignorance. The sub-themes that I will discuss are stereotypes, oppression and the role of the individual in relation to the theme of ignorance. ... Because people are not contesting the meanings of stereotypes, the conclusion one reaches is that ultimately, people within a society are responsible for the oppression of ‘others’ as well the continuing existence of their own ignorance. ... By being labeled a ‘hippie’, these people or group are being categorised as people who may live in an idealist world, could be a communist or people who dabble in drugs and many other things that one can recall from the ‘hippie’ world of the 1960’s. By relying on or needing stereotypes society is actually creating ignorance, and in true capitalistic style, this ignorance is being mass produced and exported worldwide. ... Because of this ignorance everyone who falls within a stereotype is being oppressed. ... In concluding I have to say that I believe ignorance to be the most pressing issue facing society today.
