In a fast changing world like we have, how does one able to locate one’s self, not just physically, but emotionally, and socially? In this world where diversity dominates, diversity in culture, religion, points of view or perceptions, race and ethnicity, gender, status, class, and so on and so forth, how does one able to relate himself to the many other individuals that may be different from him one way or another? Is it a matter of chance or a matter of choice? In this world divided by fear, difference, and uncertainty, we have to believe that there is at least a reason why we are here. We were not born by our own desire, we didn’t choose to be here, we did not choose our family and its members, our nationality, our financial status, our religion; we did not even choose our physical appearance nor the place we are settling at. But we exist with our own distinct identities and with different abilities that affect our ways of living that contributes not just to the society which we belong to but also to the nation that is carrying us. The concept of nation had come to my senses when I was about 7 years old when I entered school and started to study formally. I knew nation but I’m not sure if I understood what nation really is, what it serves, and its essence.
