Office of Student Leadership Virginia Beach Public Schools 1413 Laskin Rd. Virginia Beach, VA. 23451 To Whom It May Concern: I am writing to this office to appeal the decision of Dr. Soltner, Principal of Bayside High School. Dr. Soltner has agreed to uphold a decision by his Assistant Principal, Mr. Parker to give my son, Chaz Bowen 2 days of In School Suspension. I am enclosing a copy of the letter of appeal I had written to him on April 9, 2003. I would also like to add to that my reasons for appealing to the Office of Student Leadership. Dr. Soltner advised me, per the a request in my letter of appeal to him, that he called a total of eight students from Mr. MacGillivray’s class to investigate what happened on the day in question. Dr. Soltner stated of these eight students, five of them advised them they didn’t see anything and three of them stated they saw Chaz with the water bottle. Dr. Soltner advised that one of the three stated they saw Chaz take the water bottle from Mr. Macgillivray’s desk, which Dr. Soltner and I agreed was not a credible witness because Josh had already admitted to taking the water bottle from the desk. That leaves two students who say they saw Chaz with the water bottle one of whom stated they saw Chaz with water bottle in his hand and the other student stated he saw Chaz squirt Ryan.
