In William Shakespeare’s tragedy Julius Caesar, Rome is a republic run by the Senate. When Julius Caesar comes back from a victory, having killed Pompey, many fear that Caesar will be crowned, or crown himself emperor. For this reason, a group of Romans conspire against Caesar to halt his ambition, and kill him. ... All of these incidents would have been prevented if Caesar’s ambition had not controlled his hungry heart.
