This book was by far one of the most interesting books I have read in my day. Lois Lowry must have a rather imaginative mind to dream up something so wild as a story like this one. The reading was humorous, fascinating, and strangely sad. In this book, Lowry portrays an obedient and strict society. Everyone must follow all the same rules as everyone else in their group in the community. The society itself is extremely big on sameness. All the people must dress and act the same. They must also all use very precise language. If the strictly set rules are not followed then consequences will be had. Many different rules are set for the different groups in the society, some are the same and some vary, but no matter who you are or where you are in this community, rules are rules and if they are broken three times, that person will be “released”. Each person in the community has their own place. They are all assigned an occupation when they are old enough and must be present everyday. No one can use the excuse that they are ill because they have pills that cure that on the spot.
