Explain the Importance of Act 3 Scene 1 Romeo and Juliet Act 3 Scenes 1

In this essay I am going to explain the importance of Act 3 Scene 1 in Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet. I am also going to explain how the scene is pivotal. Before this scene and certainly at first there’s a lot of humour and one may think it’s a comedy. From Act 3 Scene 1 it’s a downwards spiral ending in tragedy. Before Act 3 Scene 1 there’s a lot of bawdy sexual humour, usually made Romeos friends about Rosiline. ... The nurse cares a lot about Juliet getting married and having babies she says, “woman grow by men”, she jokes about sex “thou wilt fall backwards when hast more wit”. ... The bawdy humour continues into Act 3 Scene 1 and stops when Mercutio dies. At the beginning of the scene Mercutio and Tybalt accuse each other of being homosexual. ...
