ocean tides

The topic i have chosen to research is ocean tides. I will explain how the forces of gravity that the sun and moon exert on the earth cause ocean Tides, and also what influence Sir Isaac Newton had to the knowledge of ocean tides. There are four types of tides that affect the ocean; they are high tides, low tides, Proxigean spring tides and neap tides.

Knowledge of ocean tides have been around for thousands of years, pretty much since the oceans had been used as major highways. In 325 BCE a Greek explorer by the name of Pytheas came up with the theory that the tides were connected with the phases of the moon, but did not understand why. ... Others thought that to be ridiculous and it has to be God’s foot coming in and out of the oceans and is water displacement, In Malaysian myth a giant crab caused the tides to rise and fall as it came out of a hole.
