There are many different reasons for teams, some could be for work, some could be for school and some could be for fun. In any team the most important ingredient should be commitment. Without commitment from the team members failure is almost always a guarantee. People come from all different walks of life, and we don’t always get to choose our teams. When on a team all kinds of things must be taken into account, whether it is religion, ethnic background, language barrier, experience, personality or even attitude. All of these things could affect the team either in a positive or negative way. In a work environment team effort could be detrimental to an organizations success. In our office of seven support personnel, we have the religious person, we have the one who has done it all, the one who wants to please everyone, and the ones who just want to do what needs to do and get the work done. But, although it wasn’t easy in the beginning we all recognize each other strengths and weakness and try to focus on them. It wasn’t always easy and it took two years for the team to get to where it is today. Our team efforts were put to test during “Iraqi Freedom” war. Because of all coordination that needed to be done we all had to step out of our common areas and step into a new unfamiliar area and pull our weight. Everyone did what need to do to get the job done. In our daily jobs everyone pretty much knows each other’s job, which in turn helps when it is needed to cover each other in case of one’s absence.
