Government makes rules and provides services for its citizens. Since government is, "by the people, of the people, for the people," we are all part of government. This is why our government is called a democracy, which means power is shared by all the citizens. Each citizen of the United States has certain freedoms. Along with these freedoms comes the responsibility of being a good citizen of our family, school, community, state and nation. One important responsibility of citizens is to be knowledgeable about the workings of our government and to be informed about the issues facing us.
