The Removalist is a drama of reality, Williamson uses swearing and course language to form meaning in his play. Perhaps hearing reality and real life on stage makes the audience aware of how language is used as a form of aggression in society. Violence and abuse of authority is a widespread issue in Australian society, legacy of the Australian conflict history allows Williamson to reveal violence and destruction though out the play, and in essence may be seen totally ordinary. Williamson uses his characters to highlight the theme and aspect he is trying to reveal. Simmonds is the central character and anti-hero in the play, he is the dominant voice and is an inadequate character that is completely corrupt and misuses his authority, and he is seen as a lecher and a sexist.
