Medieval Ballad Essay
Ballads originating in the Middle Ages often contained an excessive amount of violence and death. This was mainly due to the amount of violence and death that was ubiquitous of the time that the poets wrote the ballads. Death and violence is the major reason in which many of these ballads have lasted such an extensive period of time. ... In typical ballads of the time, the first line often shows the setting or introduces a character, however this ballads first line gives the audience what many people seek in ballads of the middle ages, and that is violence. ... The nature of human beings has not changed throughout history and therefore people through all times have enjoyed ballads such as this and so the longevity of the Ballad has been a great deal of time. ... Thus these ballads have lasted for a very long time.
