Ballads originating in the Middle Ages often contained an excessive amount of violence and death. This was mainly due to the amount of violence and death that was ubiquitous of the time that the poets wrote the ballads. Death and violence is the major reason in which many of these ballads have lasted such an extensive period of time. ...
