The United Sates of America and Germany have very similar countries with comparable economies with few differences. Niger, on the other hand, is a poor, run down country with an almost non-existent economy. When Niger is compared to the economically successful countries of the United States and Germany, the differences become apparent. The natural resources available in each country are somewhat similar. The United States has coal, timber, lead, gold, silver, iron, petroleum and natural gas. Niger also has coal, iron, gold, and petroleum. The only difference is that it has uranium, ore, tin, and phosphates. Germany has iron ore, coal, potash, timber, lignite, uranium, copper, natural gas, salt, nickel, and arable land. All three countries have similar natural resources with few differences. However, the United States does not depend on agriculture for economic success and they have 19.32% of arable land. Germany also does not rely on agriculture and they have 33.88% arable land. Conversely, Niger depends on agriculture and they only have 3.94% arable land. This is a major economic problem for Niger. Only 4% of their land is usable for farming and that is what they rely on. The average life expectancy in the United States is 77.14 years. This is similar to Germany’s average life expectancy of 78.42 years. These ages are relatively high due to the facts that the United States and Germany are wealthy countries and there is not nearly as much disease as Niger and other run-down countries. Niger’s average life expectancy is only 42.21 years. This just reflects that Niger is extremely poor and disease infested. Once again, the United States and Germany remain similar, while Niger continues to be horribly different.
