Alternative Fuels: The Wave of the Future
With automobile emissions being called the main cause for global warming it only seems logical to look into the new alternative fueled vehicles. This encompasses many areas, such as: the different types of alternative fuel; the different types of cars; cost and savings incurred by these vehicles. ... Gasoline and Number 2 Diesel are petroleum-based fossil fuels that are the most widely consumed fuels today. There are a variety of alternative fuels, other than gasoline and diesel that are available, but not commonly used: ethanol; biodiesel; natural gas; propane; electricity; hydrogen; methanol; and P-series fuels. ... 6 tons of gases approximately 82% are from fossil fuels that generate electricity and power our cars. ... By using alternative fuels it can help stop and maybe reverse the effects of global warming.

Most common are those that can run on gasoline, E85 ethanol fuel, or any combination of the two fuels (p. ... B20, a blend of biodiesel and petroleum, and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) are two other forms of alternative fuels that have been used to fuel larger vehicle fleets for several years, and would be a good alternative fuel choice for fleet owners.
