Film Analysis- Fear Dot Com
Fear Dot Com is a psychologically fear inducing film. It uses classic conventions from the psychological thriller genre to make a seriously disturbing film that sticks with you long after you’ve viewed it. ... The panning shots allow the viewer to survey the surroundings, whilst the mid and close-up shots on the first character/victim allow the first insight into what sort of fear the film will induce on the viewer by the expressions on the victim’s face. The flashing lightening from a storm outside the subway-station setting disorientates the viewer, which makes them wonder what’s happening and thus keeps them interested in watching the film. ... This sort of soundtrack may be used because not only is it a fairly sinister type of music, but it may also reflect the type of audience members this film would attract.
