The Renaissance: New Directions
The Italian Renaissance was a turning point in European History. As a complete turn around from the centuries prior to this time, the Renaissance brought on countless new ideals to the institute of man and his behavior. ... As with many other types of art, these pictures tended to depict the ideals of the time, and those ideals of the Renaissance were completely new to everyone in Western Europe. The paintings of the Italian Renaissance depicted the role of man being that of an intellectual, and women beginning to assert themselves as equals to the male race.
At the outset, is of most importance to note what exactly the new ideal of the Renaissance was.
