Father's Help Literary Analysis

In my mind, an antagonist is one who blocks the protagonist from getting to his main goal. The antagonist can be something other than a human, whereas the word villain usually refers to a human being or something that can think for itself. In “Father’s Help” Swaminathan, the main character, persuades his father to write a letter in an attempt to fire and imprison his teacher, Samuel, for cruel and unusual treatment. The child lives in India, where abuse in schools is legal. Therefore, when Samuel whips or hits his students, it is allowed.
