NATURAL SELECTION Species creation – is the belief that each species on earth was individually created by ‘god’. Binomial – is the system of naming organisms using the generic (genus) and the specific (species). Darwin’s theory of natural selection was based on 3 observations: 1. Variation – it was noted that all members in a species varied from one and other, it was also noted that some of these characteristics were passed down from generation to generation. 2. Birth rate – it was realise that all living organisms increased in population size at a rate which was far greater than the rate their food supply and other resources did, ad this would result in overcrowding.
